There are freeware alternatives that functionally do almost everything as the commercial archivers. However for an application I use daily, I'm willing to pay a little to get an overall more enjoyable experience. PowerArchiver has a beautiful looking GUI, it is fast and supports all formats you would expect. And it has a few unique features like an ftp client, burning cd's etc...

Also you get free updates, and the price is affordable, making this what I think is the best commercial archiver.
