Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe) provides remote access to the desktop of your computer, from a computer at another location. Using Remote Desktop you can, for example, connect to your office computer from home and access all your applications, files, and network resources as though you were in front of your computer at the office.   1. Name of host computer
  2. Type user name
  3. Firewall Exceptions: Remote
  4. Make sure the "Do not allow exceptions" check box is NOT selected
  5. Allow users to connect remotely to this computer

    I am not sure that this should be considered "free". The target machine has to have an advanced version of Windows OS installed to use RDC.

    Terminals http://alternativeto.net/desktop/terminals/ is a secure, multi tab terminal services/remote desktop client. It
    uses Terminal Services ActiveX Client (mstscax.dll)    . The project started from the need of controlling multiple connections simultaneously.
    It is a complete replacement for the mstsc.exe     (Terminal Services) client, which is called by starting "Remote Desktop Connection".
