I love this thing. Tabbed docs, syntax highlighting, powerful search, free. This rocks.

Been using Notepad++ for years! I use it everyday and it's never fallen short. Used to not support massive files, but now it does :)

This is just great. When I use FireFTP addon for Firefox, I can open a file with FireFTP to edit in Notepadd++, click CTRL+S after editing and Notepad++ automatically collaborates with FireFTP and has the file uploaded with the changes.

I got disappointed with this application.
It is able to manage many text encodings inside a text file, but if your file has unicode or foreign characters in its name or path (chinese, arabic, korean, russian, and so on) it can't "see" or "recognize", the text file. Isn't that stupid?

    Very disappointed

Like Monkeybear, I use Fireftp in conjunction with Notepad++ and it works like a charm.I really do love working with Notepad++. One exception is that wen working with remote ftp files in a live edit mode however (open file with notepad directly from the server), if you lose your connection you can sometimes lose all the data in the file. I have just started to use the FTP notepad plugin which works pretty well and it's very much like coda in this regard.

In comparision with Notepad++ I clearly prefer QuickNote (http://alternativeto.net/desktop/quicknote/) as a very flexible multi function text editor and text storage box for daily use, because it is always with one mouseclick at a sensitive spot on the top of the screen ready to use. The storage location folder(s) is (are) freely selectable.
If I write comments in online applications or forums, I first edit the text with Quicknote, then do some changes or translations (http://alternativeto.net/desktop/promt---free-online-translator-and-dictionary/) before posting the text online.
Although QuickNote is a text editor for pure unformatted text, Internet sites are opened immediately in the web browser while clicking by the URL in the text.
I have some often used standard texts as my phone number, OpenID-URL, account-numbers, fax number, mail-adresses, signatures, which I have stored in some texts in Quicknote, always ready to copy and paste it very quickly in e-Mails or other documents.
Only with QuickNote you can paste text from ComboBoxes or ErrorMessages in an editor.
I know no other editor with so many daily useful advantages. Because of this I use it since many years. Try it and like it ! Its GUI is available in 8 languages.

This app is great. The only complaint I have is the really poor documentation. I found little or no info on how to A) Choose an external app to run the code or B) How to develop an addin, the extensibility object model etc.

This thing is awesome. It's so lightweight that sometimes I find myself using it instead of DreamWeaver!
