Wow, I like. This reminds me of the good ol' glory days of Winamp and music player skinning. Ok, let's test it against my simple criteria, which are:

    -Play music easily - check
-Nice interface / doesn't look like crap - check
-Low memory consumption - hold on... more than twice the memory consume of foobar... no check

Sorry, but as much as I want to like AIMP, foobar just works better for me.

It's a shame that due to the lack of word-spread AIMP hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
The user interface doesn't give you anything new, and for non-audiophiles it won't make that much a difference.
When I first got it, a friend recommended it to me. I was a hardcore Winamp user, so I had to put it to the test. So I went and player a couple of songs on winamp and compared them one-on-one with played on AIMP with the EQ disabled (to really know how the main music decoder sounded like). The results, I must say, were without a doubt astonishing...I mean...WOW...I don't know how this guys did it, but EVERYTHING sounds some much clearer on AIMP than on ANY OTHER player out there (well, I compared it to Winamp, WIndows Media Player, Foobar, VLC and Songbird).
It's a real shame they haven't got a Mac version, 'cause I just switched to Mac and I'm really going to miss it.
Also, the fact that the installer is about 5MB, and it contains the player, a ripper, a tag editor and a burner makes it just out of this world.
If you're a Windows Media Player user, a Winamp user, or ANY OTHER MEDIA PLAYER user and consider yourself an audiophile, you've got to check it out. Believe me, there's no going back once you compare the quality.
It doesn't play videos, by the way, but we always have VLC to cover that front =)

Too bad it's no longer freeware. Everything about it is good/fine, especially the nice design, except for the equalizer. Even a slight increment in the lower frequencies tend to produce cracking sounds from your speakers, as if the diaphragm is torn/damaged. The normalizer also overdoing the volume normalization, as if somebody is turning the volume knob down too much at every chorus part of any song. Not to mention the annoying default configuration that sets the player to autoplay upon program start. Well, at least configuring it is easier than most players and sound quality is superior than Foobar2k (which has been known for its sound quality all this time) but for me to recommend this to average person is a no-no. And it is definitely not for a bass-headed person like myself who tend to tune up the bass.
